Teleprompter App

The Teleprompter App lets you read a moving script while the camera is capturing video, making it appear to those that will be viewing the video, as though you are speaking spontaneously or from memory. This makes it an ideal tool for creating presentation videos for Youtube and similar platforms, or videos where you appear as an expert on a particular topic. To utilize all of its features, an internect connection is required.

Privacy: This app does not collect, store or share personal information like email, names, location, IP address or other sensitive data. No payments can be made through this app and nothing can be purchased. Your information can not be accessed by any third party. The app may ask you to give it access to the camera and microphone of the host device. It also needs an internet connection for some of its functions to work. In all cases of usage, your data is always protected and your privacy is absolutely secure.

Producing a video with the Teleprompter App is a 5-step process. Each step corresponds to a tab in the top row of the app’s user interface. The tabs are meant to be used in a left-to-right sequence. A brief explanation of each tab follows:

Tab 1 – Enter Script:

First, you must import some content into the app. This content will become the script that you will be reading later. There are four options to enter this content. It can be entered as a Text or PDF file, from your voice where a speech-to-text engine is utilized, from a keyword-based search result, or from a specific webpage URL. Note the vertical bar on the far right which you can drag to the left in order to expose an editing area for making corrections on the script.

Tab 2 – Adjust Script:

Next, you must decide how you want the script to move. There are three modes of script movement. It can scroll uniformly from top to bottom, shift horizontally sentence-by-sentence where each sentence stays on the screen for an interval that is proportional to the sentence length, or shift horizontally whenever the app detects a pause. The rate of the first two modes can be controlled by means of a slider. Although the third mode, where the sentence shifting is user-instigated, may seem as the most attractive, it may not be best for all situations as the pausing may seem awkward in the video. It may be best to use to use low-volume filler sounds like “um’s”, that will still trigger a shift, instead of well-defined pauses.

Tab 3 – Configure Preview:

This is where you define the settings of the camera. From the panel on the right, you can select the camera, microphone, switch preview On or Off, and switch face detection On or Off. Face detection is to help you focus on the location of your face in the video, it does not affect the outcome of the video in any way. The features of High Definition, Denoising and Exposure Priority may also be available for some cameras.

Tab 4 – Record

Now it’s time to produce the video. The settings that were defined under Tabs 2 and 3 determine the reading experience under this tab. To begin recording, click the Record Video button. To pause the recording, click Pause Video. Note that pausing the video shows the last frame superimposed into the preview. This is to help you position your face in the pause location when you click Resume Video, so that the discontinuity may not be noticed in the final result. The video recording can be made to start after a time interval by clicking the Start Timer button and entering the desired interval in seconds. The translucensy of the camera preview and script can be adjusted by means of sliders. These do not affect the resulting video.

Tab 5 – Edit

Under this tab, you can join multiple video clips, stabilize them, add an audio background, preview them and transcode the result in MP4, AVI or WMV format.

The Teleprompter App is a perfect tool for creating presentation videos for Youtube and similar platforms, or videos where you appear as an expert on a particular topic. It lets you read a moving script while the camera is capturing video, making it appear to those that will be viewing the video, as though you are speaking spontaneously or from memory.

SpeechToText Pro

SpeechToText Pro is a professional speech-to-text app designed for generating longer pieces of content. Create articles, essays, even ebooks, only using Voice Typing. Never again touch the mouse and keyboard, or touchscreen, when using this speech-to-text software!

Although it is 100% accurate most of the time, its real power lies in the flexible voice commands – referred to as Actions – that let you control all aspects of text presentation. Use them to make any correction or change the presentation of any segment of text.

Some of the Actions are… Select, Select From/Until, Select Last Word, Select Last Sentence, Select Previous, Select Next, Insert Before, Insert After, Delete, Delete Last Word, Delete Last Sentence, Capitalize, Uppercase, Lowercase, Round Bracket, Double Quote, Single Quote, Hyphenate, Join, Reverse, Acronymize, Spell, and more. You can also create bulleted lists easilty. Usage of Actions and all other features is illustrated by example in video tutorials, accessible from inside the app. There is also a user guide on Actions that can be printed and downloaded.

In fact, this description – as is – was voice typed using SpeechToText Pro and Actions.

SpeechToText Pro will not do the following:

1. Work without internet.

2. Produce good results without a high-quality USB microphone. (For more details, see Resources -> Best Results.)

3. Produce accurate results in the presence of background noise.

4. Transcribe speeches delivered from a distant source, such as a public speaker.

5. Convert audio files into text.

6. Produce audio recordings. This is strictly a speech-to-text app! (Well, it does text-to-speech as well.)

Here is what SpeechToText Pro does. It:

1) Converts spoken words into text at the rate of natural speech, and at near-100% accuracy.

2) Lets you modify existing text, or define the presentation of the text you are pronouncing, through the use of voice commands. Voice commands replace the mouse and keyboard. However, the option to modify text using those methods exists too.

3) Lets you substitute the predefined voice commands with your own.

4) Offers support for hotkeys. Simply assign a voice command to a difficult-to-pronounce segment of text. Then pronounce the voice command for the difficult-to-pronounce text to print.

5) Lets you save text, send it as an email, send it as an SMS message, share it to other apps, upload it to OneDrive, play it back in a synthetic voice, or print it.

6) Makes it convenient to paraphrase spoken content in Youtube videos.

7) Lets you do scientific calculator-level calculations with its voice-driven calculator.

8) Helps you protect your content by defining users.

9) Lets you produce richly formatted content that can be saved as an RTF file, PDF file, or printed.

10) Works in English, Mandarin, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese & Spanish.

Although SpeechToText Pro has a learning curve, it is minimized thanks to its intuitive design, easy-to-read documentation, and the fact that every control (button, switch, menu) throughout the user interface is documented with a tooltip. Every major component of the app has its own user guide. The user guide on Actions can also be saved or printed. The information in the user guides is complemented by video tutorials, accessible through Resources -> Video Tutorials.

It is in the user’s best interest to learn all the features of SpeechToText Pro so that this Windows 10 speech to text app can be used in its fullest potential.
